Sniff Pretty is Sit Pretty’s nose work community. Join classes to learn the game of nose work with your dog, participate in fun activities with other nose work students, and make friends along the way.

How to join
Nose work is a fun activity you and your dog can do together. It gives your dog mental enrichment and physical exercise in a safe and convenient way. You can do nose work almost anywhere: at home, in your neighborhood, pet friendly indoor locations, or even at nose work competitions. It’s great for energetic dogs, anxious dogs, reactive dogs, shy dogs, young dogs, and old dogs. We have not yet met a dog who doesn’t love nose work!
Some of our students simply play nose work with their dogs at home, and some compete in regional nose work competitions through organizations such as National Association of Canine Scent Work (NACSW), Performance Scent Dogs (PSD), United States Canine Scent Sports (USCSS), and American Kennel Club (AKC). Nose work trials are a fun way to engage in the broader nose work community and experience new locations and challenges with your dog. Our training prepares students for competition if they choose to go that route, and our community provides support and camaraderie along the way.
- Weekly group classes – Sit Pretty offers group classes lasting 6 weeks each ranging from beginner to advanced depending on demand

- Level 3: Intro to Odor
- Level 4: Beyond Intro to Odor
- Level 5+: Advanced topics
- Drop-in classes are available for advanced students and focus on specific topics, special locations, or fun scavenger hunts

Benny and I have been learning nosework with Aubrey and Sara at Sit Pretty for several years now. Benny is part beagle and using his nose to search is what he was born to do, so when I learned about nosework, I knew he would love it, and he does. But aside from fun, doing nosework is mentally stimulating for him as he figures out how to get to the odor source, which is hidden in progressively harder-to-find locations as you progress from novice to advanced. Also, you are half of a team with your dog; you are both training him and learning how to communicate with him – telling him what he needs to do and understanding how he is telling you he’s found the source of the odor.

Audy and I have been attending nosework class with the folks at SitPretty for a couple of years now. Thanks to their support and thoughtfully developed and implemented curriculum, we have our NW2 and L1V titles and plan to try for NW3 in 2025. Both Sara and Aubrey put a lot of thought into the challenges presented in class and we learn something new and strengthen existing skills every time we go!
